Not Just for Sport

Sneakers, tennis shoes, trainers; whatever you like to call them they are often seen as a must have exercise piece but nothing more. Therefore, I decided to do a look this week using these amazing vibrant orange tennis shoes from Spend Less at Belmont Forum. The shoes are extremely comfortable and the vibrant hue will inject a little creativity to your look.

Most of my blog looks have been quite dressy and I have yet to show how you can be both laid back and stylish at the same time. I felt that these shoes would be the perfect way to do this and with summer in full swing I decided to create a look perfect for heading to a festival, picnicing with friends or spending the day strolling through markets.

With these activities in mind I wanted to make sure that my outfit was comfortable and relaxed, making it easy to sit and move around in. Therefore I chose to go for very relaxed styles and shapes such as this simple black singlet dress. The laid back fit is extremely comfortable and the darker colour really makes the shoes pop. When wearing such a vibrant item such as the Spend Less Shoes make sure you keep the rest of your look basic as you don’t want to look too OTT. By opting for a dress over shorts I ensured that the shoes looked more stylish than sporty. Another good option would be a skater style dress or skirt.

To bring some depth and interest into my outfit I decided to add this loose fit navy blue shirt to the mix. By leaving it unbuttoned it gave the look a casual laid back vibe but the collared style of the shirt still kept the look stylish. The navy blue hue compliments the vibrant colour of the shoes and works well against the black dress. Pairing navy and black can often be seen as bad, however, if done correctly the two colours can lift an otherwise flat outfit.

As I wanted to create a simple and laid back look I decided to keep my accessories minimal. This long line necklace is a great piece for creating a casual look whilst still making it stylish and it also helps in elongating my torso.

These spiked bracelets give the look a funky twist and are again a great way to add a bit of style into this very casual outfit.

I chose this plain wrist watch and simple gold ring as they both compliment the other accessories without being too much.

Lastly, who could forget sunnies, the stylish and sun smart must have for any summer outfit. These classic shades are the perfect addition to this outfit. They exude cool factor and the classy style smartens up this very basic and casual look.

So whether you’re a regular festival goer, like strolling through the markets of Freo or enjoy picnics in the park you will never go wrong when you have a pair of these babies in your wardrobe. Not only are they extremely practical but they can be very stylish too.

With the hotter weather on its way we start to think about our wardrobe and if we actually have anything that we can wear. I’m talking about those summer must haves that make getting ready so much easier. Things like the ideal summer sandal, a stylish yet sun smart hat and the perfect day dress. All these items are going to make getting ready in summer that much easier. The day dress is ideal for those hot sticky days when you just want a no fuss, stress free look. Your ideal summer sandals are going to be your best friends, perfect for everything from shopping, walking along the beach, laid back barbeques with the family and going to festivals and concerts. Therefore this week I decided to create a casual, summery look with all the necessary summer items that are going to help you get through the hot days to come.

This amazing summery dress from Jeans West at Belmont Forum is the perfect example of a great day dress. The bright, colourful, summery pattern is perfect for the warmer months and the lace detail in the back makes it work for dressier occasions too. The fabric is so light and comfortable which makes it perfect for those hot sticky days that are just around the corner. However the best thing about this dress is that it is extremely versatile and can be used as a trans-seasonal piece. The darker background in the pattern means that in the cooler months you can pair it with black opaques and some booties, making a perfect winter outfit.

To keep the look casual; I kept my accessories to a minimum and chose to go with this funky beaded necklace from Temt at Belmont Forum. The aqua hue mixes in well with the print on the dress and the beaded detailing gives it a fresh, casual summery look. The length is perfect for creating a nice long line through my bust which helps to elongate my body. The best thing about this necklace however, is that the aqua hue will go with almost any other colour and print. It’s such a versatile shade that for only $12.95 you will certainly get your money’s worth out of it.

These amazing tan sandals from Spend Less at Belmont Forum are the perfect example of ideal summer shoes. The weaved detail on the straps gives them a laid back casual feel and the tan hue is perfect for this summery look. If you are like me and have wider feet, then you would know that finding summer sandals can be a real pain. However these babies are super comfortable and the front strap is nice and wide. To make your look even better splash on a nice bright nail polish such as this aqua one. The bright colour looks great against the tan sandals and gives your look a fresh, summery feel. Both Kmart and Big W at Belmont Forum sell a great range of colourful nail polishes perfect for summer.

Lastly, I opted for this funky Rusty Beachside hat from Ozmosis at Belmont Forum. Not only is it sun smart but it is also a great addition to this summery outfit. The beaded detail around the rim ties in nicely with the print on the dress and the woven straw style gives a casual, laid back, summery vibe. It’s the perfect choice if you are having a bad hair day or it’s too hot to worry about blow-drying or straitening your locks.
